- Perhaps because I was born and raised in the center of a big metropolis, the natural
landscape always mesmerized me with its expansive beauty. Traveling with my family on a
yearly basis from urban Madrid to the bucolic pastures of Northern Spain, provided me with a
strong contrast between the city and the country, a permanent enriching quality of my
development years. It was also during this time that I learned to appreciate beauty, not only
in the aesthetic aspects of the landscape but in the complexity and dynamic qualities of
natural processes.
When I first arrived in America, I became enraptured by the majestic grandeur of its
landscapes. Although I settled in the dry lands of the Southwest, I am now fortunate enough
to visit the Northeast Kingdom in the State of Vermont on a regular basis. Thus, my life again
is enriched with the strong contrast of my childhood years. When I visit the Northeast
Kingdom, its green, never ending forests and abundant lakes overwhelm my spirit in such a
manner that it is the only subject I can paint. It becomes a refreshing interlude to the main
themes of my artistic vision.
Although these are landscape paintings, I believe they direct our attention towards the
human spirit, in that they reflect the connection we feel to the nature that we are part of.

Quizá debido a que nací y me crié en el centro de una gran metrópolis, el paisaje
natural, con su belleza expansiva, siempre me ha fascinado. El viajar con mi familia cada año
del Madrid urbano a los prados bucólicos del norte de España me ofrecía el gran contraste
que existe entre la ciudad y el campo, cualidad enriquecedora que siempre tuve presente
durante mis años de crecimiento. Fue también durante este momento cuando aprendí a
descubrir la belleza, no solo en el aspecto estético del paisaje, sino en la complejidad y
cualidad dinámica de los procesos naturales.
Cuando llegué al continente americano, la grandiosidad de sus paisajes majestuosos
me sobrecogió de tal manera que me enamoró. Aunque me asenté en las tierras secas del
lejano oeste, ahora me siento muy afortunada de poder visitar de forma regular el Northeast
Kingdom en el estado de Vermont. De esta forma, mi vida se ha mantenido enriquecida con
el fuerte contraste que siempre saboreé durante mi niñez. Cuando visito el Northeast
Kingdom, sus bosques verdes interminables y la abundancia de sus lagos sobrecogen mi
espíritu de tal forma que es la única materia que soy capaz de pintar, convirtiéndose así en
un interludio refrescante entre los otros temas de mi visión artística principal.
Aunque estos son cuadros de paisajes, siento que dirigen nuestra atención hacia el
espíritu humano, ya que reflejan la conexión que todos sentimos con la naturaleza de la cual
somos parte.
