- As an artist from Spain, I developed a reverence for Italo-byzantine art, as well as Renaissance and
- Baroque painting. Currently, in exploring my visual ideas, I attempt to integrate the old styles and techniques
with contemporary devices. In the present series, “Grace”, I try to bring femininity to the level of veneration by
using superimpositions of metaphors: beauty on beauty, form on form.
In my evolution through this series, started in 2003, I finished integrating Mudejar patterns with the female
figure (i.e. “Integratus II & "Mudejar Canticle I”). Making its’ first appearance in medieval Spain, Mudejar art is
neither Islamic nor Christian; it is, rather, a mode of artistic expression representing a harmonious synthesis of
constituent elements of both traditions. It is, therefore, a hybrid art and to me a symbol of tolerance and
cohabitation. In this work, I like to embrace the poetic nudity of the female form as an expression of freedom.
What you see is the honest expression of what I have to give as a woman to the present world.

Durante mi crecimiento en España, desarrollé una auténtica reverencia por el arte Italo-bizantino, así como
el arte del Renacimiento y del Barroco. Actualmente, en la exploración de mis ideas visuales, me gusta integrar
estilos y técnicas antiguas con elementos contemporáneos. En la serie Grace, intento elevar la feminidad a nivel
de veneración mediante la superimposición de metáforas: belleza sobre belleza, forma sobre forma.
En la evolución de esta serie, que comenzó en el año 2003, he finalizado integrando diseños mudéjares
con la figura femenina (ej. "Integratus" II y "Core and Mudéjar Pattern.") El arte Mudéjar, que apareció por
primera vez en la España medieval, no es ni islámico ni cristiano; por el contrario, es un modo de expresión
artística que representa la síntesis armoniosa de elementos constituyentes de las dos tradiciones. Es por tanto,
un arte híbrido y para mí, un símbolo de tolerancia y cohabitación. En este trabajo, quiero abrazar la desnudez
poética de la forma femenina como expresión de libertad. Lo que ves es la expresión honesta de lo que puedo
dar como mujer al mundo presente.
